Hampden Watch Co. 1877 - 1930
The Hampden Watch Co. had quite an involved and difficult lifetime, evolving from the remnants of the New York Watch Co in 1877. In 1866 it was bought by John C. Deuber after he fell foul of a newly made anti-trust law that had put his existing case making company into severe difficulties. The company underwent a number of name changes over the decades and was finally sold complete to Russia in 1930. During it's time in business the company made approximately 4,000,000 watches with many high grade railroad watches amongst it's output. Perhaps it's finest watch was an 18 size 23 jewel "Special Railway".
