Waltham 23 jewel Vanguard 18 size railroad watch

Super railroad grade watch made by Waltham Watch Co. in 1902.
The model 1892 was the final development 18 size movement made by Waltham. This one is the top grade "Vanguard" and has 23 jewels, a fully capped Swiss lever escapement, with double roller, Sapphire pallet stones, Diamond end stones, gold timing screws, and a patent "Church 1892" micro-regulator. With a jewelled patent "Safety Barrel" and gold jewel settings it really didn't get better than this.
Recently serviced the watch is mechanically sound and runs really well in all positions and keeps spot on time.
The watch is crown wind and lever set (withdraw the small lever by the 2 and rotate the crown to set the time) both functions work smoothly.
The 3 piece case is made from Ore Silver which I believe is actually an alloy of Nickel and Silver, it's certainly not solid silver. Whatever, it's a lovely robust case showing no signs of wear and with no dents, dings or heavy abrasion. It has screw on / off covers front and rear, both do so easily and both close down square and tight. It's a nice case.
Original double sunk white enamel dial is in very good order with no chips or cracks, but a couple of very faint hairlines that can only really be seen in the enlarged photos. In the hand and to the naked eye the dial appears perfect. Time is indicated by a very good set of blued steel hands under a mineral glass crystal.
Overall a high quality watch in very good cosmetic and useable condition. Lovely
