Waltham 21j "Crescent Street" Railroad pocket watch.
Nice antique 18 size railroad watch made by Waltham Watch Co. in 1901.
This watch has the model 1892 movement with 21 jewels "Crescent Street" grade which is to full railroad specification. The model 1892 was the final 18 size movement made by Waltham and features the straight line Swiss lever escapement which is a considerable improvement over the earlier right angle English lever escapement used in earlier watches.
The 1892 features a fully capped escapement with Sapphire pallet stones, double roller, gold timing screws and a patented "Church 1892" micro-regulator. The movement is beautifully finished with a lovely damascened pattern and gold jewel settings.
This particular watch is running strong in all positions and keeping very good time. It is crown wind and lever set (withdraw the small lever by the 2 and rotate the crown to set the time) both functions work smoothly.
Housed in a 3 piece nickel alloy case with screw on/off front and rear covers. The case is in lovely condition with both covers operating as intended.
Double sunk white enamel dial in lovely condition as are the blued steel hands and the heavy mineral glass crystal.
Overall a lovely railroad watch in very good order that could be used daily if desired.
