Very Rare Silver Waltham Chronograph all fully working
Here we have a very rare 14s Chronograph made by The Waltham watch Co. in 1887. Fully refurbished and working perfectly, runs strong and keeps time to within 10 secs per day.
The movement is a 14 jewel model 1884 "Hillside" with the addition of the Chronograph function. By pressing the crown the centre seconds sweep hand begins moving, press again and it stops, press yet again and it flies back to zero. So a fully functioning 1 minute stop watch which is working just as it should following its recent overhaul.
The single sunk dial has 0.2 secs graduations, and with all of the printing crisp and sharp the watch and stop watch functions are eminently useable.
This is all housed in a large fully hallmarked solid silver case that has hinged front, rear, and inner dust covers. All of the hinges are good, with all covers opening and closing easily, and closing square and tight all around. There are no dents, dings or heavy scratches so the case is in excellent all round condition.
Good gilt hour and minute hands, and a black finished sweep second hand all of which are in excellent condition. A very good mineral glass crystal completes the picture.
Overall a highly useable Chronograph in tip top condition, and a fairly rare find.
