Very Rare 18s Waltham model 1892 Canadian Pacific 21 jewels

Very Rare 18s Waltham model 1892 Canadian Pacific 21 jewels

SKU: 364115376135191

Here we have a very rare Waltham 18s in a Gold Filled case.

The movement is a 21 jewel model 1892 manufactured in 1900 for the Canadian Pacific Railway, one of only 400 produced that year from a total of 2600. The movement carries the Canadian Pacific shield with the Beaver Logo above. The high quality movement features jewels in raised screw set Gold settings and at the time of manufacture was adjusted to 5 positions. I have serviced this movement (including a new mainspring)and confirm it is in fine fettle, runs really well with strong amplitude and keeps good time.

The double sunk dial is the correct Canadian Spec and is unmarked with crisp clear characters, the hands also in good shape.

The crystal looks new but I cannot confirm that, it's unmarked anyway.

The case is showing some wear but after 119 years let's call it Patina. The gold has gone from the bow, the pendant shows brassing front and rear and the extreme edges of the front and rear covers also showing signs of wear which means the joins are visible when the covers are screwed on. The case is not in bad overall condition, the covers screw on and off easily but it is beginning to show it's age.

A very rare and highly collectable watch that can only appreciate in value.

  • Time Setting

This is a lever set watch, to set the time unscrew the front cover, adjacent to the 2 is a small lever, withdraw this lever (it only moves about 1/2 inch) then turn the crown to set the time. Return the lever and replace front cover, the crown is now returned to winding function.
