Superb Hamilton 992 railroad 21 jewel pocket watch

A lovely 21 jewel railroad watch in a white gold filled case made by Hamilton Watch Co. in 1927

The Hamilton 992 is a very high quality pocket watch movement that is fully compliant with railroad approved standards. It has nickel plates with 21 jewels, a fully capped Swiss lever escapement with double roller, Sapphire pallet stones, gold timing screws and a sprung micro-regulator. It has a gold (alloy) centre wheel, beautifully damaskeened bridge plates, gold jewel settings and gilt inlaid script. The whole a testament to the American watch makers art of the period and highly accurate to boot.

This watch is running strong in all positions for the full length  of the wind and is keeping excellent time. It is crown wind and lever set (withdraw the small lever by the 1 and rotate the crown to set the time). Both functions working well.

The 3 piece 14K white gold filled case is in lovely condition with no dents, dings nor apparent gold loss. The "bar over crown" case is, I believe a Hamilton model 2 factory fitted case so would be original to the watch. Screw on/off covers front and rear do so easily, although a light touch is needed on the front to avoid cross threading, with both closing down square and tight.

Original double sunk white enamel dial appears to me to be perfect as I can find no flaws.
A good set of heavy spade style hands under a very good mineral glass crystal.

Overall a cracker of a watch in beautiful condition to go in the collection or to be used daily.
