Stunning 18s Waltham 23 jewel Vanguard model 1892

Absolutely stunning 18 size railroad watch made by Waltham Watch Co. in 1911.
 
The nickel full plate model 1892 movement is the last 18size watch that Waltham made and has a straight line Swiss lever escapement which is an improvement over the right angled English lever escapements used in earlier 18s models made by the company. It also features the Waltham patented "Safety barrel"  containing the mainspring which is another improvement over earlier designs. The barrel in this top grade movement runs in Ruby jeweled bearings.
This watch features 23 jewels. a fully capped escapement with double roller, Sapphire pallet stones, gold timing screws and an "Ohlson 1908" sprung regulator. Beautifully finished with a lovely damascened pattern, gilt inlaid script and gold jewel settings as befits the top model in the range.
The watch is crown wind and lever set (Withdraw the small lever by the 2 and rotate the crown to set the time) both functions are working smoothly, the watch runs strong in all positions, and keeps excellent time.
The beautiful 20 year gold filled case is in stunning condition with absolutely no dents, dings or abrasion. It is showing almost no signs of wear as the engine turned rear cover is still crisp and sharp and with no signs of gold wear through anywhere. The pendant, crown and bow also in excellent condition. The case has a hinged, snap shut front cover, the hinge is in as new condition. The rear cover is screw on/off and does so easily and closes down square and tight. In my view this case is in exceptional condition, please study the photos.
Double sunk white enamel dial is to Canadian railway spec. with the 24Hr. inner chapter, and is also of the Montgomery school with the single minutes outer chapter with red 5 minute markers. In as new condition I can find no flaws, again please study the photos.
A very good set of blued steel spade style hands indicate the time under an as new acrylic crystal.
 
Overall a very collectible railroader in stunning condition. A beautiful watch.
