Silver Waltham 21 jewel "Crescent Street" pocket watch 16 size

Silver Waltham 21 jewel "Crescent Street" pocket watch 16 size

Abeautiful example of this very high grade watch from Waltham in a mint condition 0.925 silver case.

The movement is a nickel 3/4 plate model 1908 "Crescent Street" featuring 21 jewels with gold jewel settings, a gold alloy centre wheel, gold timing screws, a fully capped escapement, and an Ohlsen micro-regulator. The watch was made in 1919 and is today running as strong as the day it left the factory, keeping very good time too. The movement is in excellent mechanical condition!

This watch is crown wind and crown set, both functions working well.

The solid silver case is fully hallmarked and is in virtually mint condition. It has hinged front/rear covers and an internal hinged dust cover. There are no dents, dings or heavy scratches and the engine turned design to the rear cover is as crisp as new. The only minor blemish that I can detect is the absence of 2 tiny silver plugs, one at each end of the rear cover hinge. All 3 hinges are good and all 3 covers open and close as they should, and they are all an extremely good fit.

The single sunk white enamel dial is in beautiful condition with no chips, cracks or evident hairlines, all of the printing is crisp and sharp. A good set of blued steel fine spade hands indicates the time and all residing under an as new mineral glass crystal.

Overall a very fine watch in stunning condition and running perfectly.

Please remember that this is an antique watch and as such will not have the inbuilt safety features we all take for granted in modern timepieces.

This watch is not waterproof so it will not stand being submerged, even briefly. It will not tolerate a sudden jolt such as being dropped. It may be susceptible to magnetism so shouldn't be left in close proximity to electrical devices for any length of time.

If these points are remembered then the watch will prove robust and reliable under all normal conditions.
