Seth Thomas 18s Rail Road 21j model 5 Grade 260

Here we have a beautiful and rare Gold Filled case  Seth Thomas pocket watch.
The movement is the 18s lever set 21 jewel Grade 260 model 5 full plate manufactured in 1890.
This is one of the finest watches made by the Seth Thomas company and its specification exceeds the Rail Road standards at that time. This particular example has been fully serviced, has great balance amplitude and keeps remarkable time to an accuracy of less than 10 seconds per day. You will notice that the regulator spring is broken, this does not affect the running of the watch and my price does reflect this.
The dial is the correct, and also rare, Canadian spec. with the red inner 24hr. chapter  and sub seconds dial. It has a noticeable repair at the 2 under magnification but this is barely noticeable in normal use. The hands correct for the watch and nicely blued.
The 25 year gold filled case is correct for the period but may not be original to the watch as it is hinged front and rear with an internal hinged cover for the movement. The case is in exceptional good condition with a clear floral motif to the rear cover, no sign of brassing on the case pendant or bow.
