Rare 18s Hamilton 944, 19 jewel Railroader.

18 size railroad grade pocket watch made by Hamilton Watch Co. in 1907. This is one of only 6590 of this grade that were ever made.
 
The 994 movement is full railroad approved and has 19 jewels, a Swiss lever escapement with double roller, Sapphire pallet stones, gold timing screws, and a micro-regulator. The movement also has a fully jewelled spring barrel arbor. Finished with a lovely damascened pattern and gilt inlaid script with gold jewel settings. A very high quality movement that to this day is running strong and keeping good time, a true testament to the watch makers art of that period.
The watch runs strong in all positions and is keeping time to within 1 minute per day, pretty good for a watch that is 120 years old.  It is crown wind and lever set (withdraw the small lever by the 2 and rotate the crown to set the time). Both functions work smoothly.
 
Housed in a 20 year gold filled case that itself is in good condition. There are no dents or dings, and with no apparent wear through to be seen apart from the bow where all of the gold has worn away. The pendant and crown are good. The original engravings on the case have worn fairly smooth due to it's age and use. It has screw on/off covers front and rear with both doing so easily and both closing down square and tight.
 
The white enamel dial is privately signed for ? ? Grant. of Troy PA. I can't decipher the 2 initials for the name despite the printing still being crisp and sharp. The dial is in fair shape as it does have a substantial chip to the edge between the 6 & 7 although this is mainly hidden by the screw off bezel when it is in place. There is also a vertical line running from the centre through the signature. Please see the photos to judge the condition.
A very good set of blued steel hands indicate the time under a good acrylic crystal.
 
Overall a fairly rare railroad watch in nice condition that is working well.
