Lovely Hamilton 940 18 size Railroad watch

A really nice 18 size railroad watch made by Hamilton Watch Co. in 1915. Runs very nicely and keeps excellent time.
The full plate movement is full class "A" railroad spec with a fully capped Swiss lever escapement, double roller, and a "Goldthwaite" micro-regulator. The movement is beautfully finished with screw set gold jewel settings, a lovely damaskened pattern and inlaid gilt script. The watch is mechanically sound as it runs strong in all positions, and in lovely cosmetic condition as well.
This watch is stem wind and lever set.
3 piece 25 year gold filled case is in fine condition with just smoothing of the embossed and engraved design to the rear cover betraying it's age. No evident dents or dings and no apparent wear through. The pendant, crown and bow also in fine condition. Both covers remove and replace easily and both close down square and tight. Nice case.
Original double sunk white enamel dial has just a very faint hairline at the 1, otherwise all is good. A nice set of blued steel hands under a good acrylic crystal.
Overall a handsome railroad watch in fine condition.
