Late model Elgin B W Raymond 21j railroad watch. Superb.

This is one of the last Pocket watches made by Elgin and incorporates all of the developments made to the B W Raymond over the years, this particular watch was made in 1953.
The nickel movement is a grade 571 which was the final incarnation of this famous watch. It features 21 jewels with a fully capped Swiss lever escapement , double roller, Sapphire pallets, "Invar" white metal hairspring and solid mono-metal balance wheel, and a Ball micro-regulator. The "Invar" temperature resistant and anti-magnetic hairspring is the equivelant of the famous Hamilton "Elinvar" spring, and was developed to counter the problem of varying temperatures that afflicted the earlier carbon steel hairsprings.
This watch runs really well in all positions and is keeping excellent time, it is stem wind and lever set.
Correct, late model B W Raymond signed Montgomery dial is in as new condition as are the blued steel heavy spade style hands. Acrylic crystal.
Overall a fabulous example in lovely condition.
