Handsome Waltham 21j Crescent St. Silveroid full hunter

A heavy and handsome full hunter made by Waltham sometime between 1898 and 1902. I have 2 sources for dating watches and between them they can only agree that it was some time between these 2 dates, sorry I can't be more precise.
 
The 18 size nickel movement is a model 1892 which is the final development of 18 size watches made by Waltham and is considered to be one of the best full size movements ever made. This one is a Crescent St. grade and features 21 jewels with Gold, screw set jewel settings, a fully capped Swiss lever escapement with double roller, gold timing screws, Sapphire pallet stones and a "Church" micro-regulator. The movement also features Waltham's patent safety spring barrel, and was adjusted for timekeeping accuracy in 5 positions. All of this was state of the art at the time the watch was made.
The watch is running strong in all positions and is keeping very good time over 24 hours. It is stem wind and lever set (withdraw the small lever at the edge of the bezel by the 5 and rotate the crown to set the time) both functions work well.
 
The very heavy "Silveroid" case is in lovely condition. I believe Silveroid is a trade name for a Nickel / Silver alloy. Whatever, this is a base metal case made from heavy gauge material and is immensely strong, and heavy. It has hinged front / rear, and internal dust covers. All of the hinges are good and operate as they should. The lift spring is good as depressing the crown pops the front cover open to 90degrees where it stays. The only "Flaw" is the replacement gold filled bezel which I personally think is quite striking in appearance, others may disagree but I quite like it. It is however a perfect fit so no problems there. No dents, dings or abrasion and being heavy gauge material it polishes up beautifully without wearing it out.
A really handsome case.
 
Original double sunk white enamel dial has red 5 minute markers and is in perfect condition, I can find no flaws.
A nice set of blued steel "Fleur de Lyse" hands indicate the time under a very good acrylic crystal.
 
Overall an imposing high quality watch in lovely useable condition.
