Hamilton 992B railroad in Chromed display case. Fabulous.

Stunning railroader watch, Hamilton 992B made in 1946 in a lovely chromed display case.

The Hamilton 992B, many collectors say this is the best and finest railroad watch ever produced. In continuous production from 1941 - 1969 the 992B was the last watch made by Hamilton when the factory closed in 1969. The nickel split plate movement is state of the art for the period and features 21 jewels, a fully capped Swiss lever escapement with double roller, Sapphire pallets, the innovative "Elinvar" temperature resistant hairspring with solid mono-metal balance wheel with gold timing screws, and a sprung micro-regulator.

This watch has just been fully serviced and has a new white metal mainspring. It runs strong in all positions and keeps time to within a couple of seconds per day. This watch is crown wind and lever set. The lever here is a bit tricky to extract as the slot in the case is very narrow, I find a cocktail stick works well. Or the new owner may like to file a wider slot to allow fingermail access.

The 3 piece display case has screw on / off covers, both do so easily and both close down square and tight. The case is chromed base metal and appears to be in almost new condition.

Double sunk white enamel dial is in as new condition as are the black enamelled hands.

The case has 2 excellent condition glass crystals.

Overall a handsome railroader in fabulous condition which would make a super daily user.
