Fine Hamilton 992B railroad watch

Fine Hamilton 992B railroad watch

The Hamilton 992B is considered by many collectors to be the finest railroad grade pocket watch ever produced by any of the American watchmaking companies. Starting in 1940 the 992B continued in production unchanged until the company closed it's doors in 1969.

The 21 jewel nickel plate movement features a Fully capped Swiss lever escapement with double rollers, Sapphire pallets, "Elinvar" temperature and magnetism resistant hairspring with solid mono metal balance wheel and gold timing screws along with a micro-regulator.

This particular example made in 1947, has just been fully serviced and is running strong in all positions whilst keeping excellent time, to within a couple of seconds per day. The watch is stem wind and lever set.

The original 3 piece gold filled case is in lovely condition with just one minor ding to the rear cover.

All of the gold is bright and lustrous and both covers screw on and off easily.

Beautiful, unmarked Montgomery style dial with a very good set of heavy spade hands under a good acrylic crystal.

Overall a lovely example of this highly sought after pocket watch.
