Fine 18s Elgin 19j B W Raymond railroad.

The 18 size movement is a first generation grade 240 to full railroad specification with 19 jewels a capped swiss lever escapement, jewelled pallets, double roller,  gold timing screws and a travelling nut micro-regulator. The movement is beautifully finished with full damaskened patterning and gold jewel settings.
This watch is mechanically excellent as it runs strong in all positions and keeps spot on time. It is stem wind and lever set (withdraw the small lever by the 2 and rotate the crown to set the time). Both functions operate smoothly.
 
The gold filled case shows extensive wear through to brass on both front and rear bezels, however no dents, dings or heavy abrasion. Both covers screw on and off easily and both close down square and tight. The pendant and crown are good although the bow has also lost it's gold.
 
Perfect white enamelled dial, I can find no chips or hairlines and all of the printing is crisp and sharp. A very good set of blued steel hands and 2 good acrylic crystals.
 
Overall a very good railroader that is showing gentle signs of age and use but still performs like new.
