Fine 16s Hamilton 992 railroad watch. 14K GF Swing Out case
Lovely 16 size railroad grade watch made by Hamilton Watch Co. in 1922.
The nickel split plate movement is a full railroad specification Model 2, grade 992. It has 21 jewels and features a fully capped Swiss lever escapement with double roller, Sapphire pallets, gold timing screws and a "Reed" micro-regulator. Beautifully finished with a gold (alloy) centre wheel, gold jewel settings, a lovely damascened patterning, and gold jewel settings with gilt inlaid script. The movement is in fine condition both mechanically and cosmetically. It is running strong in all positions and keeping very good time .
The watch is crown wind and lever set (withdraw the small lever by the 1 and rotate the crown to set the time).
This movement is housed in a lovely 14K gold filled swing out case. The movement is secured to a solid ring within the case that itself is hinged to the main body. To expose the movement click out the stem as if setting the time on another watch (this one is lever set), remove the front cover and swing the movement up from the 6 position (there is an indent for the thumbnail, turn the hands upwards to avoid damage to them should your thumbnail slip). The front cover is a screw on / off. The case is in beautiful condition throughout.
Double sunk white enamel Montgomery dial in very good order with just 1 very fine hairline that is about impossible to see with the naked eye (Please see photos).
A very good set of blued steel hands under a new acrylic crystal.
