Fabulous Hamilton 992 Railroad.
Really beautiful railroad watch made by Hamilton Watch Co. in 1925.
The nickel plate movement is a really high quality, full railroad spec model 2, grade 992. It features a fully capped Swiss lever escapement with double roller, Sapphire pallets, gold timing screws and a sprung micro-regulator. Beautifully finished with a lovely damascened pattern, gold jewel settings, and gilt inlaid script. A work of horological art and testament to the watch makers skills of the time.
This one is in fine condition mechanically and cosmetically. It runs strong in all positions and is keeping time to within a few seconds per day. The watch is crown wind and lever set (Remove the front cover and withdraw the small lever by the 1, rotating the crown now sets the time) both functions working as intended.
This movement is housed in the most beautiful "Cross Bar" gold filled case that is in super fine condition with no dents, dings or abrasion beyond very light scuff marks. All of the gold is intact and bright and lustrous. The pendant, crown and bow in similar fine condition. Screw on / off front and rear covers with both doing so easily and replacing square and tight all around. A really nice case.
Double sunk Montgomery style white enamel dial is in lovely condition as are the spade style hands and the acrylic crystal.
Overall a truly magnificent example of this very collectible railroader, working as it should.
