Antique Waltham model 1888, 15 jewel "Riverside"
An earlier 16 size pocket watch made by Waltham Watch Co. in 1895.
The brass three quarter plate movement is a model 1888, and of the better "Riverside" grade. It has 15 jewels, a Swiss lever escapement with the patented regulator, sometimes called the "Tadpole" reg. due to it's appearance.
This one is in lovely condition with no staining on the plates and running strong in all positions whilst keeping reliable time within a minute per day. It is stem wind and stem set, both functions working well.
Housed in it's original 20 year gold filled case which is in remarkably good condition considering it's age. There are no dents or dings and with no apparent gold loss, even the pendant, crown and bow are in excellent condition. The case has a snap on bezel with a hinged rear cover and hinged internal dust cover. The hinges are good and all the covers close square and tight.
Original single sunk white enamel dial is in nice condition. There are some faint hairlines visible in the photos but these are very hard to detect with the watch in the hand. Please study the photos.
Good original, period correct gilt hands under a very good mineral glass crystal.
Overall a really nice watch in original condition that is working as intended.
