18s Waltham Model 1892, 21 jewel Vanguard, Railroad

A beautiful antique railroad watch from Waltham Watch Co. made in 1902.
The full plate model 1892 was the final development of the 18 size watch by Waltham, and was a considerable advance over previous 18s models. The 1892 Vanguard here has 21 jewels with a fully capped Swiss lever escapement, double roller, Sapphire pallets, diamond end stones, gold timing screws and a "Church 1892" micro-regulator. The movement is finished with gold jewel settings a lovely damaskeened pattern and gold coloured engraved script. This watch is running strong in all positions and keeping excellent time, it is stem wind and lever set.
The highly decorated 20 year gold filled case has screw on/off covers which both do so easily. The case is in lovely condition with no dents or dings and just a very (very) thin band of wear through around the extreme edge of the bezel. The pendant, crown and bow all in tip top shape.
Double sunk white enamel dial is flawless, I can find no faults. A good set of spade style hands and a mineral glass crystal. The crystal has 1 small scratch just inboard of the 3.
Overall a beautiful watch in lovely condition and running fine.
