18s Waltham 21 jewel "Crescent St." railroad. Model 1892
Lovely 18 size railroad watch made by Waltham Watch Co. in 1902.
The nickel full plate movement is a model 1892, "Crescent St" grade, and the finest of Waltham's 18 size watches. It has 21 jewels, a Swiss lever escapement with double roller, Sapphire pallet stones, gold timing screws, and a "Church 1892" micro-regulator. Finished with screw set gold jewel settings this is a lovely movement. It runs strong in all positions and is keeping excellent time. The watch is stem wind and lever set (withdraw the small lever by the 2 and rotate the crown to set the time) both functions working smoothly.
The 3 piece case is made from a nickel alloy with the trade name "Silverode". A very robust case as the material is quite a heavy gauge, and with screw on / off covers with both doing so easily. No dents, dings or heavy abrasion, and just light scuff marks to the rear cover. Nice case!
Double sunk white enamel dial is in good order with a tint chip between the 12 and 1 and a couple of very light hairlines. Please study the photos to see for yourself.
Time indicated by a good set of blued steel hands under a very good acrylic crystal.
Overall a very nice watch and a good example of it's type, running well.
