18s Hamilton 940, 21 jewel railroad pocket watch.
A lovely, heavy railroad pocket watch made by Hamilton Watch Co. in 1903.
The 18 size nickel plate movement is to full railroad approved specification with 21 jewels, a fully capped escapement with double roller, Sapphire pallet stones, gold timing screws and a patent "Goldthwaite" micro-regulator. Beautifully finished in the style of the times with a lovely damaskeened pattern on the plates, gold jewel settings and gilt inlaid script.
The watch is running strong in all positions and is keeping excellent time over 24 hours. It is crown wind and lever set (withdraw the small lever by the 2 and rotate the crown to set the time) both functions working well.
The watch has a heavy nickel alloy case with screw on/off covers front and rear. It is in lovely condition with no real signs of use and wear and both the covers remove and replace easily. Nice case.
Original white enamel double sunk dial is in lovely condition as are the blued steel spade style hands, and all under a really thick mineral glass crystal.
Overall a typical heavy railroad watch from the period in lovely condition and full working order.
