18s Elgin full hunter 21j Railroad grade model 2
Here we have a very nice Elgin full hunter Railroad watch in a Gold Filled Keystone case.
The movement no 6812255 is a grade 149 model 2 manufactured in 1897. It feature 21jewells in Gold settings (screw set) a moseley regulator and would have been fully adjusted when it was made. The script on the movement is in gold and gives this a classy look. I have serviced this watch and also fitted a new mainspring, so it's good to go. The watch runs well and keeps time to within a minute per day.
The gold filled Keystone case is in nice condition for its age, bright and shiny with no brassing evident, the pendant bow and crown also bright. The engraved floral designs to front and rear still clear but showing signs of smoothing and wear. All of the covers close tight with good hinges, the front springs open when the crown depressed,
The double sunk railroad dial clean and unmarked with crisp Arabic numerals. The spade hands nicely blued and in good condition. The crystal clear and unmarked.
A really nice example of a fairly rare watch.
