18 size Waltham 21 jewel Vanguard. Runs sweet.

A very high quality 18 size pocket watch made by Waltham Watch Co. in 1900.
 
The model 1892 is the finest 18 size movement that Waltham made and the Vanguard is the top grade. This one has 21 jewels, a Swiss lever escapement with double roller, Sapphire pallet stones, gold timing screws and a "Church 1892" micro-regulator. The movement is finished with screw set gold jewel settings and gilt inlaid script.
The watch is running strong in all positions and is keeping very good time. It is stem wind and stem set, both functions work smoothly.
 
The 20 year gold filled case is in fair condition with no dents or dings, however there is significant gold loss to the rear cover and to areas of the main band. The pendant, crown and bow are all in very good order. Despite the gold loss this is surprisingly a very smart case. Screw on / off covers with both doing so easily, and both closing down square and tight.
 
Very nice double sunk white enamel dial that has no apparent flaws. The time indicated by a very good set of blued steel spade style hands under a very good acrylic crystal.
 
Overall a very nice watch that runs as it should. Please see the photos to judge the condition.
