18 size 23 jewel Waltham Vanguard Railroad watch.

A beautiful top spec Railroad watch made by Waltham in 1911.
 
The full plate model 1892 is the finest 18 size watch that was made by Waltham, and this one is the top spec 23 jewel Vanguard, they didn't get better than this.
Featuring a fully capped Swiss lever escapement with double roller, Sapphire pallet stones, gold timing screws and the latest "Ohlsen" micro-regulator. The movement also has a fully jewelled mainspring barrel, screw set gold jewel settings, gilt inlaid script and a lovely damaskened pattern finish. The watch is running strong and keeps very good time. It is stem wind and lever set (Withdraw the small lever by the 2 and rotate the crown to set the time). Both fuctions working smoothly.
 
The 3 piece gold filled case is in very good order with no dents or dings, no abrasion and no apparent gold loss. The engraved horse head on th erear cover has now worn smooth over the years but is still quite distinct. Screw on / off covers with both doing so easily and both close down square and tight. Some minor gold loss to the pendant and total loss on the bow where it has worn against a chain, very good crown.
 
A double sunk Canadian spec 24 hour white enamel dial in excellent condition. I cann find a couple of very fine hairlines which are just about invisible to the naked eye but otherwise all is very good.
Time indicated by a very good set of heavy spade style hands under a very good acrylic crystal.
 
Overall a very nice railroader, very collectible, runs as it should. Excellent.
