16s Waltham "Traveller" Gold Filled case
Waltham 16s Gold Filled open face watch
The movement is the venerable model 1908 7 jewell "Traveller" and although arguably lower quality than their highly jewelled cousins these proved remarkably reliable and accurate, witness the number still around today. This example, manufactured in 1919, has been serviced and a new mainspring fitted. It's running strongly and keeping time to a couple of minutes per day. The watch is pendant wound and set.
The 10yr. gold filled case by Dennison in very nice condition, the only brassing is to the top of the bow where a chain would have rubbed. There is light surface scratching to the rear cover compatible with age and use. The rear cover and rear inner cover both hinged and both hinges are good. The bezel being snap on/off. Overall a nice bright case.
The double sunk dial is signed for "Fattorini & sons Bradford" with the manufacturer name above the sub seconds dial. Overall in lovely clean and clear condition with one hairline visible at the 11.
The hands nicely blued, clean and straight. The mineral glass crystal in almost new condition with just the tiniest chip at the edge by the 9 which is only visible when the light catches it.
Overall a very nice useable example of these sturdy timepieces.
