16s Waltham model 1888 7 jewels, fairly scarce pocket watch.
16 size pocket watch made by Waltham Watch Co. in 1896, a fairly hard to find watch as only 19500 were ever made and after 130 years there can't be that many left.
The brass plate movement is a model 1888 and is the base model with 7 jewels. It has a Swiss lever escapement and a plain regulator. However despite the basic specification this watch runs really well and is keeping time within 1 minute a day with plenty of adjustment available on the regulator. So after 130 years the old girl is going strong. The watch is stem wind and stem set with both functions working smoothly and the watch running well beyond 24 hours on a wind.
The gold filled case is a 20 year quality example and is in very nice condition with just one very minor ding to the main band around the 7 position. All of the gold is intact apart from normal wear to the bow. Hinged front and rear covers with an internal hinged dust cover, all of the hinges are good and all covers operate as they should. A very nice antique case indeed.
Correct original single sunk dial in very good condition as are the blued steel hands under a replacement acrylic crystal.
Overall a fine example of this early Waltham in very good working condition.
