16s Waltham 23 jewel Vanguard "Premier" railroad grade, serviced

A late model railroad watch made by Waltham Watch Co. in1949.
This is the final version of the 16 size model 1908  movement,  and Waltham called this the "Premier" whilst claiming it to be the finest watch they had ever made. This one is the top grade Vanguard with 23 jewels, a fully capped Swiss lever escapement with double roller, Sapphire pallet stones, gold timing screws, and a sprung micro-regulator. It also has the Waltham version of a white metal alloy hairspring with associated solid mono - metal balance wheel. This is all state of the art stuff which results in an extremely reliable and accurate watch.
This watch has just been fully serviced so it is running strong and keeps excellent time. It is crown wind and lever set (withdraw the small lever by the 11 and rotate the crown to set the time) both functions working smoothly.
The gold filled 3 piece case is in nice condition. Whilst there are no dents, dings or abrasion the edges of the covers are starting to show wear through of the gold plating. Overall it's in good order with both screw on/off covers operating as designed and both closing down square and tight. The pendant, crown and bow are all in excellent condition.
This is a white painted metal dial and is in overall good condition but there are some apparent marks around the 11 and some obvious wear to the printing also at the 11 and to the script in the centre. Please see the photos to form your own opinion but in mine the dial is 95% good.
A very good set of black enameled heavy spade style hands under a good acrylic crystal.
 
In conclusion a very nice watch in generally excellent condition running and working as intended.
