16s Waltham 17 jewel "Royal" display case!

16 size pocket watch made by Waltham Watch Co. in1908, fitted into a fully signed Waltham display case.

The nickel bridge plate movement is a model 1908 which is the development of the earlier highly successful model 1899. This is the superior "Royal" grade with 17 jewels, a Swiss lever escapement with the "Church 1892" micro-regulator, gold jewel settings and a gold (alloy) centre wheel.

The watch is running strong in all positions for the full length of the wind and is keeping very good time within +1 minute per day. The watch is crown wind and crown set (simply tug out the crown and rotate to set the time). The movement is in lovely cosmetic condition with no untoward corrosion staining nor unsightly scratches.

The 3 piece nickel display case is in good condition with both covers snapping on and off whilst both close down tight all around, The display case was originally designed so that salesmen could show the movement to prospective buyers without having to expose it to a potentially dusty atmosphere. This one was provided by the Waltham factory and is fully signed front and back.

The case has 2 glass crystals and both are in good order.

The single sunk white enamel dial is in fair condition as it has a chip in the minute register by the 1 (Please see the photos). Other than that all is good.

Time displayed by a good set of blued steel hands.

Overall a very good quality pocket watch in really nice condition and working well.
