16s Waltham 15 jewel open face pocket watch

16s Waltham 15 jewel open face pocket watch

A good open face pocket watch made by Waltham Watch Co. in 1908.

Back in the day American pocket watch movements were imported into the UK and assembled into English made cases once here. Thus, here we have an American made movement installed into an English made case.
This particular watch is a middle of the road model 1908, grade 614, with Nickel plates, a Swiss lever escapement, 15 jewels and a "Church 1892" patent micro-regulator. The quality of the movement is spoken for by the fact that after 118 years it is running reliably for the full length of the wind whilst keeping good time to within + 1 minute per day.

The English made gold filled case is also of good quality as age has bestowed no dents, dings or abrasion, whilst the gold remains intact throughout apart from the expected wear to the bow. With hinges to the front and rear cover and an additional hinged internal dust cover this is a nice case, and all in good order.

Original single sunk white enamel dial appears in as new condition, beautiful.

A nice set of gilt spade style hands and a very good mineral glass crystal.

Overall a typical workaday watch from the early 1900s in lovely condition and working perfectly.
