16s Rockford 17 jewel railroad grade 405

Fairly rare early railroad watch made by Rockfor Watch Co. in 1908.
 
Nicely finished 17 jewel grade 405 movement with 17 jewels, Swiss lever escapement with double roller, gold timing screws and a micro-regulator. The movement is in fine mechanical condition having been serviced and fitted with a new mainspring, it runs well and keeps good time. The watch is stem wind and lever set. It can be slightly challenging to wind as it has a very small crown which combined with the new spring makes it relatively tight.
 
The gold filled case with screw on/off front and rear covers is in fair condition. There is a ding to the edge of the rear cover behind the 3 position but otherwise all is good. The covers remove and replace easily and the gold appears intact with no obvious wear through.
 
The Montgomery style double sunk dial has an obvious repair around the 7 and a hairline by the 1. A perfectly useable dial but cosmetically challenged.
good set of blued steel hands  under a good mineral crystal.
 
Overall the watch is fairly representative of a used watch of it's age, perfectly useable but it does have a couple of mainly cosmetic issues. My asking price does reflect it's condition.
