16s New York Standard 7 jewel pocket watch. Runs great.

16s New York Standard 7 jewel pocket watch. Runs great.

The New York Standard Watch Co. were only in business from around 1895-1929 and this particular watch would have been made towards the end of that period, sadly there are no records available to give an exact date.

The watch is a bridge plate type of movement and bears more than a passing resemblance to the Howard series 11 movements. This watch has just 7 jewels and a Swiss lever escapement with a plain regulator. Cosmetically it's in good order and is also mechanically sound. I have been running it on test over 3 days and it keeps very good time, gaining a little less than 1 minute per day.

The hinged gold filled case is an English ALD made item that is in very good condition. There are no dents or dings and the gold is intact throughout. With hinged front and rear covers and a hinged internal dust cover this is a very smart case.

Original single sunk white enamel dial is in excellent condition as are the blued steel fine spade hands and all under a very good acrylic crystal.

Overall a fairly scarce watch in excellent condition that is running as intended.
